FASHION

Fashion I and II will integrate knowledge, skills and practices required for college study in textiles and apparel, and to enjoy success in personal sewing. Students are required to showcase their work in an annual fashion show. Demonstration and application of core subject knowledge is incorporated in the course. All fashion course s fulfill the one-half credit required in Fine Arts.

FABRIC FUNDAMENTALS

CREDIT: 0.5 (4.A grading) ONE SEMESTER GRADE 10-12 This introductory course is a study of basic fabric concepts, machine and hand sewing skills, and clothing repair. Students will demonstrateapplication of skills in several sewing, design, and alteration/repair projects.

FASHION I

CREDIT: 1 (4.A grading) GRADE 10-12 Fashion I is an introductory course in sewing, garment construction, and design. Students will use a variety of tools and equipment to create apparel and decorative items. Students will demonstrate basic sewing skill development, knowledge of textile and apparel vocabulary and concepts, fiber characteristics and care, color theory, and elements of design. No prior sewing experience is required.

FASHION II

CREDIT: 1 (4.A grading) GRADE 11, 12 PREREQUISITE: Fashion I with permission of the Teacher Fashion II is a continuation of sewing, garment construction, and design. Students will use a variety of tools and equipment to create apparel and decorative items. Students will demonstrate skill development in sewing, pattern usage, alterations and garment construction. Students may participate in an entrepreneurial project
