THE FIVE WAYS TO SUPPORT SHG THAT WILL HAVE THE MOST IMPACT
The Advancement office is often asked, “What area(s) at SHG need my support the most?” In response to that question, we have developed this informational sheet that points donors in the directions that will impact SHG the most. There are many options that will benefit the students, mission and future of the school greatly. We encourage our donors to choose which area(s) of giving fit best with his or her philanthropic goals and plans.
If you have any questions or would like to learn more about any of these areas of support, please call the Advancement office at 217-787-9732.
Thank you for your support of Sacred Heart-Griffin!
We ask that everyone pray for the students, faculty, staff and administrators of Sacred Heart-Griffin, so that we may continue to live by our mission of promoting academic excellence in a community of faith, and that our enrollment remains strong so that we may continue our mission for generations to come.
The Annual Fund is the cornerstone of giving to Sacred Heart-Griffin High School. The Annual Fund is comprised of unrestricted funds that support the operations of the school such as teacher salaries, library books, technology and building maintenance. The school can put such gifts to use immediately in areas where they are most needed.
The Annual Fund is calculated on a fiscal year basis from July 1 - June 30. During the year, the SHG Advancement Office sends mailings, holds phone-a-thons, special events and conducts personal visits to raise Annual Fund dollars. All gifts, big and small, are important to theAnnual Fund.
The renovations of the Fine Arts area of Dominican Hall at East Campus and the renovations and additions at West Campus, as well as the construction of our multi-sport stadium, have been a big focus for SHG in the last several years.
Through the support of many, $8.1 million has been raised for these efforts, but we still have a ways to go before our debt is fully retired. We are calling upon alumni, parents, past parents, grandparents and friends to join in this effort by considering a gift to the Generations Campaign. Naming opportunities as well as the opportunity to purchase bricks in our brick walkways or chairs in the auditorium are still available.
More than 30% of students at SHG receive a need-based scholarship. Without the scholarship program, many students would not be able to afford to attend SHG. There are several ways to fund a scholarship: through the General Scholarship Fund; Named Current-Use Scholarship; or an Endowed Scholarship that will stand the test of time.
Charitable donations can be an important part of your estate planning. Bequests, gift annuities and charitable trusts are vehicles through which you can provide valuable financial support to Sacred Heart-Griffin High School. They also can provide significant financial benefit for you and your loved ones. We encourage you to seek advice from a tax professional about including SHG in your estate planning, and help ensure Catholic secondary education for generations to come.
For your convenience, here is the language you would provide to your advisor if you choose to include SHG in a will or trust: “I give ______% (and/or $______) of my estate” to Sacred Heart-Griffin High School, 1200 West Washington Street, Springfield, IL 62702, to provide funding for _______________________________ (name designated purpose) OR state that your gift is to be unrestricted, to be used where the needs are the greatest. Tax ID information 37-0662552.
Donors who make documented planned gifts to SHG are recognized as members of the Heritage Society, unless they prefer to remain anonymous
