ART I/DRAWING RULES && GUIDELINES:
Materials: Students are required to have the following; 3 ring binder, notebook/paper, pencil. Students are required to bring these materials EVERYDAY to class. Students are welcome to leave all of these materials in the classroom. There are crates with each class periods number on them; which is where the materials can be stored.
Rules of the Classroom:
- Students must have materials.
- Students must respect the classroom (materials), each other, and me.
- Students are not allowed to abuse materials (whether their own or mine).
- Students are not allowed to lift the desk.
- Students are encouraged to have fun but should control their volume; as well as, following the seating chart given to each class.
- Students must clean up after themselves and will be issued a detention if they don't follow this rule.
- Students must have their passbook at all times.
- Students are not allowed to do other homework in the art room. Any homework being worked on will be taken away, held until the end of the day, and the student will be issued a detention.
- Students must follow the rules of common sense (i.e. don't throw items, paint on other students, draw on their desk, etc.) Any of the previous or anything similiar to these will result in a detention.
Rules of being absent:
- If the absences is PLANNED, you must get assignments ahead of time and turn them in when you return.
- If the absences is UNPLANNED, you will get one day for everyday you were gone to make up an assignment.
- Exception: If you know the assignment/project is due on the day you missed; it will be due the day you return. No extra days.
- It is the students' responsibility to get assignments & notes when they are absent.
Note taking:
In ART I & DRAWING, students will be taking many notes.
- If a student is absent, they are welcome to come see me and I will print all the notes missed.
- If a student is here, it is the students' responsibility to take the notes. Notes are not posted online because students need to focus on what is being taught at the time.
- If a student has difficulities will this task, a discussion needs to take place near the beginning of the semester and something will be worked out. However, the student is still responsible to pay attention during this note taking time. If a student fails to pay attention, there may be adjustments to the agreement.
BINDER:
- Students will receive a binder grade at midterm and at the end of the semester.
- In the binder, students should have all their notes, handouts, sketchbooks, etc.
- I will hand out a form with all the materials required to be in the binder a week before it is due.
New Art Policy
- DRESS CODE: At the beginning of every class, there will be a dress code check. Students should be standing behind their assigned seat. After prayer I will quickly walk around and check each student. If any students are out of dress code or are fixing something after the bell has rung; a detention will be issued. Any student not standing and following directions; will receive one as well. It’s essential to get through this very important exercise quickly to begin the class period.
- iPods/iPhones/etc: Students are allowed to have iPods in study hall but no devices should be used or seen in my classroom. Many devices (that are not phones) have abilities to use the internet or text; which is a huge distraction. Students should leave all of these devices in their locker until the appropriate time to use them. If any is seen/heard; they will be taken away and a detention will be given. If any device is taken away, students may pick them up after school in my classroom.
- Homework/Projects: In an attempt to tackle zeros/poor grades in my class; a new, stricter policy will be put into effect. In the handbook, it is stated that students will receive a detention for any uncompleted assignments. This will now be the case in my classroom. Students will have their homework on their desk at either the beginning or end of the period (depending on the deadline); I will come around and check it. If a student hasn’t completed the assignment or doesn’t have the assignment in the room. They will receive a detention. (For everyday a student hasn’t turned in an assignment, the grade goes down a letter grade.)
- Detention Form: For any detentions given out, students will also receive a form they must fill out explaining why they received the detention. This is to make the guardian better understand what is occurring at school. This is especially for homework and projects; I would really like to see an improvement in grades in my class. Students will be required to take this form home that night and have a guardian sign the paperwork. If the form is not signed by the next day, the students will receive another detention for not following directions. An email will be sent out to guardians to inform you to expect a form. If you have a different email account you would like me to email; please let me know.
