Theology I - Faith and Human Growth
Description: This course is designed to give students of all religious backgrounds an understanding of the basics of Catholic faith. This class will enable students to explore and appreciate the meaning of Catholic faith as it relates to their personal lives.
Materials:
- Textbook: Understanding Catholic Christianity
- Bible (provided by SHG)
- Loose leaf notebook paper
- Spiral notebook and a folder
- Black or blue pen
- Highlighter
Expectations: Students are expected to be reverent, responsible, and respectful of themselves and others. Also, students are expected to be respectful and responsible for all materials or property used. Students are expected to be on time and prepared for class.
Absences: You are responsible for anything you miss due to an absence. Assignments are listed on the webpage for this class. See the school policies for absences in your Student Handbook.
Grading: Students will be graded on the point system. Graded work will show the number of points possible as well as the number of points earned. Letter grades will reflect the percentage of points attained during the grading period. The grading scale may be found in your Student Handbook.
Assignments: All written assignments are to include complete sentences, correct punctuation, spelling, and proper grammar. They may be typed or written in neat legible handwriting. Handwritten assignments must be completed on loose leaf paper in black or blue ink. Make sure that your name, date, and class period are on the top, right corner of your paper. Points will be deducted if these expectations are not met. Homework assignments are due at the beginning of class. Late assignments may be accepted with a reasonable explanation; however, points will be deducted.
What to Expect: Classes will be presented in a variety of teaching methods. I will be using prayer, lecture, group work, whole-class activities, written assignments, projects, movies, journaling, and discussion.
All or some of these expectations may be modified throughout the year.
