COMPUTER APPLICATIONS- ONE SEMESTER GRADE 10-12
This course is designed to give the students practical knowledge of the computer, basic business and core programs, software and educational technology tools to use in school, forthcoming careers and general personal life. Topics: Basic Keyboarding, Shortcuts, Microsoft Office Suite, Research.
CONSUMER ECONOMICS – ONE SEMESTER GRADE 10-12
This course satisfies the consumer education requirement.
This course is designed to give students practical knowledge of personal economics that all citizens must deal with on a day-to-day basis. It is intended to provide them with the skills needed to be more informed and effective consumers as they prepare to enter the marketplace. Topics covered include banking/savings, giving, taxes, insurance, job searching, interviewing skills, budgeting/shopping and credit.
BUSINESS LAW - ONE SEMESTER GRADE 12
Business Law presents an introduction to law structure and fundamentals of rights, responsibilities and risks. The course will include criminal and civil processes as well as contractual obligations of sales, insurance, property and wills. This course is designed to show how laws are positive in nature rather than negative.
MARKETING - ONE SEMESTER GRADE 12
Marketing is a one semester course that is designed to introduce students to the marketing activities that provide products and service for the satisfaction of consumer needs and wants. Areas covered will include product planning and production, distribution functions and institutions, purchasing and pricing and promotion. Emphasis is placed on understanding of the entire marketing process
Class Expectations
When the bell rings, you are expected to be in your seat and ready to begin class.
Written assignments and Homework will be collected at the beginning of the class period on the assigned due date.
You are expected to Follow Directions on ALL assignments and projects always do your best.
Periodic Pop-Quizzes will be given at the beginning of class; therefore, completing assigned reading and homework is beneficial as quiz questions will be derived from these materials.
Because classroom participation, homework, quizzes & tests as well as in-class assignments count equally toward your quarter grade, it is important to pay attention, participate, be respectful of others and use your classroom time wisely.
All Business classes require students to work independently as well as in Groups, just as real life demands. Students are encouraged to think outside the box in utilizing the information taught. Project-based learning will be utilized a great deal in Business Classes. Supervision, trouble-shooting and coaching are provided consistently in order to improve student success.

Two student leaders will be assigned to provide leadership when a substitute teacher is present. If a teacher is not in the classroom, the student leader(s) should send word to the office immediately.
Grades: The grading scale in the SHG handbook will be followed. Your grade will be determined by the following:
- Class participation and completion of written and oral assignments
- Completion of activities as assigned in class
- Pop-Quizzes
- Tests
- Regular Announced Quizzes
- Projects
- Final Exam
Your grade may be viewed online.
You are encouraged to ask questions at anytime you are unclear.
