SHG and St. John's Hospital, A Unique Partnership

As part of the expansion of West Campus, Sacred Heart-Griffin has partnered with St. John’s Hospital to bring an AthletiCare facility and program to the school. In addition to athletic trainer support services, licensed physical therapy services for injured athletes and access to on-site orthopedic surgeons — education and training will be a core benefit for SHG students.

St. John’s staff and the SHG faculty will collaboratively develop on-site educational programming to provide interested students with a hands-on immersive healthcare experience. Through these courses, students will work closely with therapists and physiciansin a clinic setting. They will receive on-going seminars regarding careers in healthcare and participate in fairs designed to increase their level of awareness regarding key issues in medical technology, healthcare practice, policy and education. Mentorship programs will also be developed to provide students with a greater level of involvement and support as they explore healthcare opportunities. In addition, students, parents and faculty will have access to an array of physical and mental wellness services.

The AthletiCare space is adjacent to the SHG West campus with a separate entrance and signage. The facility will also be open to patients with rehabilitation needs from the general community.
