The Generations Campaign

West Campus Challenges
These are just a few examples of the challenges we face at West Campus:

  • The gymnasium has virtually no heat. The temperature has dipped as low as 45 degrees inside the building.
  • West Campus is not air conditioned.
  • The windows are not made of safety glass.
  • The locker rooms are in deplorable condition; its outdated fixtures are coated with rust.
  • There are no women’s locker rooms.
  • Due to a lack of storage, our sports teams stack their equipment in various areas throughout the building.
  • The kitchen is in need of extensive repairs. Make-shift facilities are put together to accommodate the annual Mostaccioli Dinner.
  • The plumbing is in disrepair; the sewer backs up regularly.
  • Visiting teams are struck by the horrible condition of this facility, which creates a negative image of the school.

Multi-Sport Athletic Field
With our plans, we will address the challenges at West Campus and we believe the timing is right to build a multi-sport field for our athletes. This field will serve the baseball, softball, soccer and football teams.

Enhancing East Campus
Dominican Hall is in need of renovations. We have tremendously talented students and faculty in our Fine Arts department, but our facilities no longer match the quality of talent and programming that we enjoy.

Challenges in Dominican Hall

  • The band and choral students share a room for daily classes and lessons. Currently, 140 students use this one room each day.
  • In the auditorium, springs are coming through the chairs making some of them unusable and uncomfortable.
  • There is a lack of storage for band instru- ments, uniforms, costumes, scenery, etc.

These necessary updates to Dominican Hall will allow us to fully accommodate the large number of fine art students we currently have, as well as future classes. The new upgrades will also enhance our student marketing efforts as we appeal to prospective SHG students.
