Students of the Month

Liz M.

Hi, my name is Liz, and I am a senior at SHG. I’m a Soprano 2 in the Girls Choir, Elliote in this year’s musical “Cats”, achieving my Silver Cross this spring, Secretary of Video Game Club, and I’m also an Honors student in Broadcasting. I will be attending SIUE in fall and majoring in Elementary Education and minoring in Broadcasting. I volunteer for morning prayer as much as I can and I also am part of the Sister Buddy program that SHG offers with my buddy Sister Teresa. My favorite part of SHG is the wonderful and welcoming community. Everyone around me is so nice and the staff is very helpful and kind. I love showing off my earrings with Mrs. Curry and Shawna in the cafeteria at lunch, hanging out with Mr. Talken after school in Broadcasting, having voice lessons with Mr. Kaplan, playing Just Dance with Ms. Ellis, being taken care of by Mrs. Keen in office when I don’t feel good, and so much more. I am so thankful for the wonderful people who have made my four years here very memorable. Thank you to all and always remember to be a Cyclone!

Sophia S.

I’m Sophia, and I am a junior at SHG. I participate in academic team, Science
Olympiad, and photography club. I don’t play any sports, so I try to fill up my time with
extracurriculars and my studies. For me personally, I like the closeness of the SHG community;
everyone knows everybody so it is easy to get to know people. I’ve made many close friends
because of how tight-knit the student body is. I’m very glad I am able to go to SHG and receive a
quality education while also making friends with the people in my class.

Hi, my name is Alex, and I am a sophomore here at SHG. I participate in football, I run track, and I am a member of the Recycling Club and FCA. I really enjoy being part of SHG and its community.  Since I began as a freshman, everyone - students and faculty - have been very welcoming and make SHG an enjoyable place to be while receiving a quality education. I am so thankful for the teachers here that really care about their students and want them to succeed.  I am excited to continue my education here at SHG and the opportunities that it offers and what lies ahead! Go Cyclones!

My name is Matthew, and I am in the Freshman class. Since I have been at SHG, I have been a part of the soccer, football, and wrestling teams and eventually track this spring. I am also a student ambassador and  member of student council. I have liked being a student at SHG because of the supportive community and generous and helpful faculty. I have made so many new friends and look forward to all that is to come over the next few years.
