The five ways to support SHG that will have the most impact

The Advancement office is often asked, “What area(s) at SHG need my support the most?” In response to that question, we have pinpointed five areas that direct donors to areas that will impact SHG the most. There are many options that will benefit the students, mission and future of the school greatly. We encourage our donors to choose which area(s) of giving fit best with his or her philanthropic goals and plans.

If you have any questions or would like to learn more about any of these areas of support, please call the Advancement office at 217-787-9732 or make a donation online.

Thank you for your support of Sacred Heart-Griffin!

Prayers

We ask that everyone pray for the students, faculty, staff and administrators of Sacred Heart-Griffin, so that we may continue to live by our mission of promoting academic excellence in a community of faith, and that our enrollment remains strong so that we may continue our mission for generations to come.

Annual Fund

The Annual Fund is the cornerstone of giving to Sacred Heart-Griffin High School. The Annual Fund is comprised of unrestricted funds that support the operations of the school such as teacher salaries, library books, technology and building maintenance. The school can put such gifts to use immediately in areas where they are most needed.

The Annual Fund is calculated on a fiscal year basis from July 1 - June 30. During the year, the SHG Advancement Office sends mailings, holds phone-a-thons, special events and conducts personal visits to raise Annual Fund dollars. All gifts, big and small, are important to the Annual Fund.

Scholarship Fund

More than 30% of students at SHG receive a need-based scholarship. Without the scholarship program, many students would not be able to afford to attend SHG. There are several ways to fund a scholarship: through the General Scholarship Fund; Named Current-Use Scholarship; or an Endowed Scholarship that will stand the test of time.

Planned Giving

Charitable donations can be an important part of your estate planning. Bequests, gift annuities and charitable trusts are vehicles through which you can provide valuable financial support to Sacred Heart-Griffin High School. They also can provide significant financial benefit for you and your loved ones. We encourage you to seek advice from a tax professional about including SHG in your estate planning, and help ensure Catholic secondary education for generations to come.

For your convenience, here is the language you would provide to your advisor if you choose to include SHG in a will or trust: “I give ______% (and/or $______) of my estate” to Sacred Heart-Griffin High School, 1200 West Washington Street, Springfield, IL 62702, to provide funding for _______________________________ (name designated purpose) OR state that your gift is to be unrestricted, to be used where the needs are the greatest. Tax ID information 37-0662552.

Donors who make documented planned gifts to SHG are recognized as members of the Heritage Society unless they prefer to remain anonymous.

Participation

Participation makes our SHG community a family. Dine at the annual Mostaccioli Dinner (first Sunday in March), cheer on our Cyclones, enjoy the musicals, attend a Trivia Night, buy a lucky Mega-Raffle ticket! No matter your ability to support SHG, everything you do, big or small, matters, and we thank you!
