Students of the Month

Nick P.
My name is Nick, and I am a senior here at SHG. Throughout my four years, I have been a part of the football and baseball team. One football game that I will never forget is against Quincy High School my junior year.  I have been in Spanish club all four years, and just recently I have become a Student Ambassador and Office Runner. I am so glad that I have become more involved in the SHG community this year. Through these clubs and extracurriculars I have met new students that I would not have known otherwise.  I have really enjoyed my time here at SHG and am a little sad to go. However, I am excited to see what the future holds for me and others in the Class of 2020. As of now, I am not sure what college I will be attending next year but I plan on studying business in the fall.

Martin M.

Hi, my name is Martin, and I am in the Junior class of SHG. I am from a small town called Thayer, which is south of Springfield, south of Chatham, and south of Auburn. What I really like to do in Thayer is sit outside and stare at all the corn fields for hours on end( Just kidding). In reality, most of my cousins on my mom’s side live near me, and I hang out with them at the pool, play chess, have sword fights with them, etc. For the better part of the year, though, I am at SHG, the school that I have come to love. The main reason why SHG is so good is because of the teachers. Most teachers that I have had my Freshman-Junior years surpass those of my homeschool(sorry Mom) and grade school years in their ability to teach well. Teachers that seem aflame with the spirit of teaching(Mr. Judd, Sra. Troyer, Mr. Talken, etc.) are awesome and they inspire others and myself to do well. I am blessed to have been taught by them and to have known them.

Beth K.

My name is Mary Beth. Currently, I am a sophomore at SHG. I participate in OP Teen and Book Club. My hobbies include sewing, reading, and drawing. One of my favorite things to do is to volunteer at my parish through the Cathedral Council of Catholic Women. I am grateful that one of my parish priests, Fr. Friedel, serves as SHG’s Chaplain. It has been a pleasure getting to know him better. SHG has motivated me to grow in my faith through different means of prayer. I attend 7:10 AM school Mass on Fridays, and I pray the rosary on Thursdays in the chapel. I feel blessed to be a part of the SHG family. The teachers and counselors are so encouraging and genuinely want to help us succeed. The office team is so welcoming and always willing to lend a hand. The cafeteria staff and janitors brighten my day with their friendly smiles and warm greetings. The students support and care for one another too. I am so thankful for the opportunity to go to a school that feels like family!

Jillian H.

My name is Jillian, and I am a freshman at Sacred Heart Griffin. I am a member of Key Club, OP Teen, and I am also a student ambassador. Outside of SHG, I enjoy performing in local theatre, hanging out with friends and family, and watching Netflix. What I like most about SHG is the friendly environment the school provides. The students and teachers are always friendly and make coming to SHG a joy. The students here are very welcoming and are always open to meeting new people. The teachers are also always willing to help with homework, and I am very appreciative that I have the chance to be taught by them. This school has helped me make tons of new friends, and I am very blessed to be able to receive my education here.
