Students of the Month

Payton N.
My name is Payton, and I am in the senior class. While attending SHG, I have participated in NHS, Student Ambassadors, Student Council, and am on the board of both Key Club and French Club. I have also played volleyball for SHG since my freshmen year and am currently committed to Spring Hill College to continue my volleyball career. Because of the opportunities that SHG has provided for me, I was able to not only get into my dream school, but also create so many memories that I will bring with me for the rest of my life. SHG’s welcoming community has made these last four years so unforgettable, and I am proud to be a Cyclone.

Abbey K.

Hi! My name is Abbey, and I am a junior at SHG. I am involved in several school activities including German Club, Student Council, Broadcasting, and I am on the track team. Outside of SHG, I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family, watching movies, and being outside. What I enjoy most about SHG is the friendly environment. Throughout the years, I have met so many new people, and I get close with more each year. The teachers are super nice and always willing to help. I am very thankful for all the teachers that have taught me so far. SHG is amazing, and I am so thankful to be able to attend this school.

Zach R.

My name is Zach, and I am a sophomore at SHG. I am involved in OP Teen, Science Olympiad, and Encore, and I am hoping to play tennis for SHG this spring. This will be my second year being in the musical at SHG. Last year I performed as Bustopher Jones in Cats, and this year I will be playing Mr. Banks in Mary Poppins. Outside of school, I enjoy attending the Latin Mass every Sunday at Sacred Heart Church, and I am part of the Sacred Heart's kids' choir. I am also part of a Pro-life group called Crusaders for Life. My favorite part about SHG is the incredible teachers and staff who are always so friendly and kind. Some of my favorite teachers and staff members who never fail to make me smile include Mrs. Bartletti, Coach Al, Mrs. Curry, Mrs. Keene, Fr. Friedel, and Mr. Kaplan. SHG is such a great place, and I am so grateful that I get the opportunity to go here.

Kathleen K.

My name is Kate, and I am a freshman here at SHG. I am a member of OP Teen, Key Club, Art Club, and the Physician Pipeline Preparatory Program at SIU. When I am not at school, I enjoy singing in the Little Flower Parish choir, performing with the Hoogland Education Program, and playing the piano and flute. I also enjoy spending time with my friends, twin sister, and two little brothers. My favorite part about SHG is the people. It has been great to get to know everyone and make new friends. There are so many opportunities to meet new people who you might not have classes with. The faculty and staff are amazing and are always willing to help.  I feel so blessed to receive my education at Sacred Heart Griffin!
