Welcome to SHG!

Students of the Month

Eli D.

Hello, my name is Eli,and I am currently a senior here at SHG. As my senior year is coming to an end, I have started to look more into the future. I am planning on studying in the field of sustainability management at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. These past four years have been a blast! SHG helped prepare me for my future and I know I will never forget my time here. Perhaps my favorite thing from my time here was the ability to be a part of such a tight nit community with many traditions. I loved going to the games, as everyone does, and seeing so many of my friends. There were so many different traditions at SHG, but with COVID, I sadly had to miss out on some. I wanted to get the chance to go on Kairos, have one final city tournament, and even work at the Mostaccioli dinner one last time! Even with missing some of these traditions, I loved my time here, and I hope to stay involved with our community!

Audrey F.

Hello! My name is Audrey, and I am a junior here at Sacred Heart Griffin. This is my first year at SHG after transferring from Springfield High School, and I am so happy to be here! At SHG, I am a member of Art Club, German Club, and Christmas Club. Outside of school, I spend most of my time dancing as a member of the Springfield Ballet Company, but I also enjoy backpacking, art, and spending time outdoors. I enjoy working with children and am excited to be a counselor at Camp Ondessonk this summer, after spending many summers there as a camper.  I also work at Blessed Sacrament School as a Before and After School Child Care Worker. At SHG, I feel academically challenged because the small class sizes allow for a more personalized learning experience. I appreciate how invested the SHG teachers are in their students’ success and how they go above and beyond to help us grow mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I have loved my first year at Sacred Heart Griffin and appreciate the kindness and support that the SHG community has shown me. I can’t wait to make more great memories next year as a Cyclone!

Andrew R.

Hello! My name is Andrew, and I'm a sophomore at SHG. During my time at SHG, I have been on the High Honor Roll and I have enjoyed being a part of the school's broadcasting class. Whenever I have free time, I usually like hanging out with my friends, listening to music, and taking my dog on walks. What I like most about SHG is the staff. I love all of my teachers. It is easy to tell that they all have a great passion for what they teach and I feel lucky that I have all of them helping me grow during such a formative time of my life. I'm excited for my next two years at SHG and all the memories that I will make along the way.

Antonio F.
Hi My name is Antonio, and I am a freshman here at SHG. This year I was on the swim team, scholastic bowl team, and am currently in Key Club. Outside of school I like to travel, and spend time outdoors. I enjoy many outdoor activities, especially swimming, biking, skiing, and kayaking. My favorite subjects are science, math, and geography. I am very thankful to be going to SHG. The students and teachers at SHG are very nice and supportive. I feel that SHG is doing a great job of preparing me for college. I am very glad that SHG has stayed open so we can learn in-person. I look forward to my next three years at SHG and hope that things will return to normal next year.
