Admissions Events and Timeline

DECEMBER

PREVIEW NIGHT

Preview Night introduces prospective students in 6th-8th grades and their families to our campus and the faculty and students of Sacred Heart-Griffin High School. Tour the school, speak with students, teachers and administrators and learn about all that SHG has to offer including our academic, extracurricular and sports programs.

JANUARY

8th GRADE PLACEMENT TEST

Eighth-grade students seeking admissions into SHG must take the placement test, which helps determine students' placement into the freshmen-level class options.  The test typically takes place on a Saturday in early January at our east campus.

FEBRUARY

NEW STUDENT PARENT MEETING

At this meeting, students are given the results of their placement test.  They will also have the opportunity to meet with our guidance department individually to review test scores and freshman class placement.  Families will receive an application packet to be completed for admission to SHG.

EARLY REGISTRATION

Students/Families who register by this deadline (set each year for the last week in February) will be entered into a drawing for a $2,000 tuition waiver.  One per class will be awarded.

MARCH

FACTS GRANT AND AID APPLICATION DUE

Families applying for Student Investment Funds through the FACTS Grant and Aid application should submit their application by MARCH 17th.  If the March 17th deadline has passed, please contact Becky Jones at jones@shg.org for further assistance.

PRIORITY REGISTRATION DEADLINE

All families are STRONGLY encouraged to complete their registration or re-enrollment by the March 17th deadline.  Classes are filled on a first come first served basis.  Students whose registration or re-enrollment is turned in after this date may not get into their first choice classes.

ONGOING

Admission applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until enrollment is full.

Transfer Students

Sacred Heart-Griffin High School accepts a limited number of transfer students each year. In order to apply for transfer admission, a student must be in good standing at his/her current school with a minimum GPA of 2.0.

Before a transfer student may begin the application process, the student and parent must interview with the SHG principal. Students must provide the most recent transcript and report card when meeting with the principal. If accepted, the student will meet with a member of the guidance staff to proceed with the registration process.

Please contact Kara Rapacz at rapacz@shg.org or 217-787-1595 to arrange an appointment time.
