At Sacred Heart-Griffin, service isn’t just an extracurricular — it’s part of who we are. As a Dominican school, we proudly uphold the Four Pillars of Dominican life: Prayer, Study, Community, and Service. These pillars shape every student’s journey with us, calling them to live with purpose, compassion, and a commitment to others.

To honor the pillar of Service, all students are required to complete a minimum of 20 service hours each school year as part of their graduation requirements.

We actively support students in fulfilling this mission. Throughout the year, SHG organizes school-sponsored events where students can complete service hours. We also share volunteer opportunities through daily announcements and the Service Board located in the main hallway. From helping at local nonprofits to participating in school drives and parish events, students have many chances to serve and grow.

Service hours at SHG are more than a task — they are a living expression of our Dominican charism, teaching students that true leadership is rooted in humility, generosity, and action.

Students will receive more information on approved activities, tracking hours, and upcoming opportunities in their Theology classes at the beginning of each year.
